Tequila
We rode on the 7 day tour, riding on the Vstrom 650 two up with Jurgen and two Americans who were escaping the USA snow. We both enjoyed it immensely and was one of the highlights of our 5 months overseas trip. The sights were heartwarming and I particularly enjoyed the Tequila distillery tour in the town of Tequila :) The ride was safe and we didnt have one close call and all the towns were very friendly. We were lucky one night where there was an annual parade through the towns cobblestone streets of about 1000 horse, some dancing and accompanied by many bands. My partner also enjoyed shopping the various stalls especially for hats! Jurgens local knowledge was fantastic and he was especially good at finding local cuisine and translating for us. In all a memorable experience, one will always remember and recommend.

June 2023
If you are looking to experience the real Mexico and enjoy riding this is a must do.

Recently we returned from Mexico where we enjoyed a motorbike tour with Bike Mexico (5 Days Classic Tour). We highly recommend Jurgen (owner operator of Bike Mexico).

If you are looking to experience the real Mexico and enjoy riding this is a must.

Jurgen is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. From the moment we arrived at Jurgen and Eli’s home we were treated like family friends and felt so welcomed into their beautiful home.

Travelling with Jurgen made our time in Mexico memorable for all the right reasons.

Bike Mexico’s motorbikes are perfectly suited to this adventure. The safety equipment (helmets etc) are of a high standard. On tour our motels were always clean and of a good standard and Jurgen’s choice of restaurants was excellent. Jurgen is more than happy for tour groups to wander on their own or equally happy to accompany and guide.

We are from New Zealand and are not used to the heat in Mexico. Jurgen made sure we had plenty of hydration stops and frequently checked in on us altering his itinerary without hesitation to accommodate us.

This adventure was truly exceptional, we can’t wait to come back. If you would like further information Jurgen is able to provide our contact details.

Five day road tour from Puerto Vallarta to the mountains and back

Great father/son trip. We took beautiful winding roads out of PV up into the mountains, enjoying local food and excellent hotels - most directly on quaint town squares, except for the last night when our balcony faced the ocean!

I trust Jürgen because of his extensive experience touring globally and guiding motorcycle tours in Jalisco - he has ridden these roads hundreds of times. Jürgen gave a pre-briefing on safety before the ride, and provided riding tips when requested. Roads were well-marked, and drivers generally courteous.

Apart from the ride, this was a great *tour*. We visited pilgrimage sites, indigenous ruins, took a tour of the Jose Cuervo distillery, stayed in picturesque towns, and experienced gorgeous views of Jalisco farming communities and the Pacific Coast. We stayed with Eli and Jürgen before and after the ride, enjoying their hospitality and excellent food.

I hope to do this again with other friends.

Tour Itinerary

1. Day

Puerto Vallarta - San Sebastián del Oeste - Mascota - Talpa de Allende

Starting at Bike Mexico we ride to Puerto Vallarta and then directly into the mountains passing through different vegetation zones. We stop and visit the old colonial village of San Sebastián del Oeste (Altitude 1400 m / 4600 feet). Leaving the village behind, we ride on spectacular curvy mountain roads up to more than 1800 m / 5900 feet towards the small old colonial town of Mascota (1240 m / 4000 feet).

After our lunch break we ride to Talpa de Allende, a famous and very important town for Catholic pilgrims. We have time to explore the wonderful colonial center with its plaza, awe-inspiring church and enjoy the special atmosphere on the streets in the evening.

2. Day

Talpa de Allende – Ameca - Tequila

From Talpa de Allende we ride on spectacular roads with hundreds of twisting curves to the old colonial town of Ameca (1230 m / 4000 feet). We have time for a snack and visit the historical city center with its wonderful market and colonial buildings. We leave Ameca on a secondary but good road and cross a mountain range (1800 m / 5900 feet) before we arrive at our destination, Tequila. There we visit the world famous tequila distillery "José Cuervo". After the visit we have time to walk around the streets and experience the history and culture of this special place. And if you like, try some of the various tequilas. We stay overnight in a conveniently located hotel in the colonial Center of Tequila.

3. Day

Tequila – Lake Chapala - Mazamitla

We will have breakfast at the beautiful market in the old town of Tequila. We leave Tequila and cross the fertile farming land of the Mexican highlands and can visit (that’s optional) the prehispanic archaeological site “Los Guachimontones” with its unique round pyramids. Later we ride to “Lago Chapala”. The lake, situated at about 1500 m/5000 ft. is the biggest lake of all Mexico. After lunch we ride further to Mazamitla, 2250 m/7400 ft. With its wooden houses, the town looks like we are in Switzerland or Austria. Here we stay over night.

4. Day

Mazamitla – Volcano Colima – Comala

We leave Mazamitla and descend on twisty mountain roads. On our way to Colima we will have awesome views over the Volcano Colima and the Nevado de Colima (4260m/14000ft), which in wintertime can be snow-capped. We will stay overnight at another Pueblo Mágico (Magic Village), Comala. We have time to explore the "white town" Comala.

5. Day

Comala - Manzanillo – Barra de Navidad

We are heading further towards the Pacific Ocean riding through jungle and mountains on very winding roads. We pass Manzanillo with its important port, ride along Coconut and Banana plantations before we reach our destination, the little beach town Barra de Navidad.

6. Day

Barra de Navidad – Costa Alegre

We ride north and explore some of the beautiful beaches, bays and fishing villages on our way. We will have our lunch break at a beautiful beach town, called Punta Perula. After lunch we ride to our second beach location. A little beach village called Villa Del Mar, where we will stay at a little beautiful resort in private bungalows on top of a 10 miles Long Beach.

7. Day

Barra de Navidad – Costa Alegre

We have time in the morning to enjoy the beauty of the place before we will explore the area. We will see a little fishing village and some other beautiful remote beaches before we head back to Bike Mexico. The riding in this area is in parts on dirt roads. But nothing very complicated to ride.
